FAQ – Coley Home

Frequently Asked Questions

We're here to help. Here are the questions we hear most.

Our Furniture

Where is your furniture produced?

Our furniture is handcrafted by skilled artisans in Claremont, North Carolina. We have a talented, dedicated team at our manufacturing plant — all with decades of expertise in the furniture industry. From product development to packing & shipping, we do it all in-house.

How do you ensure a quality product?

Since we have our own manufacturing plant, we control all aspects of what materials we use and how our products are created. Each piece goes through tests and checks to guarantee lasting style and comfort. From start to finish, our careful team has eyes on our pieces. We quality check each and every piece from cutting all the way to packing and shipping.

Learn more about our entire process here.

What should I know about buying custom furniture online?

Our pieces are created using high quality materials and covered in beautiful fabrics. Because each piece is made-to-order and designed by you, we cannot accept returns unless there is a manufacturing issue or shipping damage.

We highly recommend ordering swatches and measuring your space prior to making your furniture purchase.

Because each piece is handcrafted rather than mass-produced, there may be some variances from piece to piece. Our wooden legs are made of solid oak and hand stained. Slight color variations are to be expected, due to natural wood grains.

Fabric dye lots may vary: slight differences in texture, color, or appearance among fabrics may be found, for example between swatches and furniture pieces.

How do I place an order?

Our website is the best place to order! Select your product and choose your fabrics through our customizer tool. If you have questions along the way, our team is always happy to help via live chat, phone, or email.

Our Customizer uses digitally rendered photos of our fabrics. For best results, please order swatches to see fabrics in person before placing your order.

Call us at (980) 237 - 9861 or email us at hello@coleyhome.com

Is your furniture made using toxic chemicals?

We're incredibly selective about what goes into each and every product. Because we manufacture our own goods, we have complete control over who we source from and how we pick our materials. The majority of our materials, except for some fabrics, are sourced within 100 miles of our location, cutting down on emissions and fuel consumption.

Read our Chemical Statement.

Are all of your pieces available in all fabrics?

No, some fabrics do not perform well in the slipcover or dressmaker styles. To make this easier, we’ve taken this option off of these pieces. You will only be able to order fabrics that we are sure work well on our furniture through our customizer. If you have any questions, please email hello@coleyhome.com

Does Coley Home ever have sales?

No, we do not offer sales or seasonal promotions. We do this to ensure we are focusing on the best possible value every day, not just a few days out of the year. You will always be getting the best price this way. We feel this is a more transparent way to sell our furniture, and we can be sure we’re always putting our customers first.

Do you have a Trade / Designer Program?

Yes! We have a Trade Program exclusively for designers and interior design professionals. We'd love to have you as a member - sign up here.

Will I receive all items in my order at the same time?

Yes, your pieces will be shipped together. Because we have different lead times for each piece, the longest lead time in your order will be the standard. This means if you order a Quick Ship piece and a Standard Lead Time piece, your order will be shipped all together once the Standard Lead Time piece is finished. If you would like your pieces to arrive separately, you will need to place them as separate orders.

Where can I view my previous orders?

Create an account with us! It’s completely free, and it allows you to easily access previous orders and tracking information. Click the person icon in the top right corner to sign in or create an account.

Do I need an account to place an order?

No, you can check out as a guest. However, creating a free account makes it easy to access previous orders, track your furniture, and save addresses for future purchases.

What happens after I place my order?

Our team gets to work immediately! Here's what happens next:

  • Order confirmed: You'll receive a confirmation email with your order details.
  • Production begins: Your piece enters our production queue within 1–2 business days.
  • Fabric procurement: If the fabric is in stock, we begin cutting right away for our Quick Ship Program if the order only contains those pieces. For Standard Lead Time items, we will begin cutting once the frames are prepped and ready. If it's on backorder, your lead time begins once it arrives.
  • Quality check & packaging: Every piece is inspected, packed carefully, and handed off to our shipping carrier.
  • Shipping notification: You'll receive tracking information as soon as your order is booked with the carrier for pickups.
My swatches haven't shipped yet, what should I do?

Our swatches are shipped via USPS, so the tracking will take a little longer to update! If your swatches are taking longer than a week to arrive, please reach out to our team. We’d be happy to work with you.

Can I order swatches before committing to a purchase?

Absolutely, and we highly encourage it! Ordering swatches is the best way to see and feel our fabrics in your own space before placing a furniture order. Lighting, room color, and texture all look different in person. Order your swatches here.

Can I see Coley Home furniture in person before I buy?

We are an e-commerce brand, but we do have a showroom in Charlotte, NC! We also have a few stocking dealers (showrooms that have select pieces on their floor), so let us know where you are and we’ll see if there’s anywhere close to you that has our product!

We also show at High Point Market every year! Our booth is in the Suites at Market Square, M-5003 so be sure to come by and see us.

The Beds

What is the difference between the Crown Bed and the Claremont Bed?

Both are beautifully made, fully customizable beds, but they're built differently and suit different needs.

The Crown Bed is our signature quick-ship bed. It features features a patented foam headboard that ships compressed in a box, making it easy to carry upstairs and assemble yourself. It has six iconic headboard shapes and ships in as little as 10–15 business days. It's a great choice if you want your bedroom ready sooner, or if ease of delivery and setup is a priority. The Crown Collection ships via UPS if it’s less than 2, and will go freight if you order 2 or more.

The Claremont Bed our hardwood platform bed collection — a more traditional construction with a solid hardwood frame and a fully upholstered headboard. It comes in seven distinct headboard shapes, giving you a lot more design flexibility, and also allows for contrast welt and contrast border customizations. It has our standard week lead time and will ship via our freight carrier.

The quick breakdown:

  • Crown Bed - 100% foam headboard · ships in 10–15 business days · 6 headboard shapes · Twin XL, Queen, or King
  • Claremont Bed - Fully upholstered headboard · Standard Lead Time · 7 headboard shapes · Twin, Full, Queen, or King

Not sure which is right for you? Reach out at hello@coleyhome.com - we're happy to help you decide.

What sizes does the Crown Bed come in?

The Crown Bed is available in King, Queen, and Twin XL. Please see the product pages for dimensions!

Do you make a full size bed?

Yes! A Full size is available in our Baker Bed, Claremont Bed Collection, Ivy Bed, and Windsor Bed. The Claremont is our hardwood platform bed, available in seven headboard shapes and fully customizable in 100+ fabrics. The Baker Bed, Ivy Bed, and Windsor Bed are all available with or without a footboard.

If you're set on the Crown Bed, the closest option is our Twin XL, which offers extra length for taller sleepers, or Queen. The Crown Bed is available in Twin XL, Queen, and King. If you’re set on the Crown Bed in a Full size, please email hello@coleyhome.com and we’ll get that custom order placed for you!

Not sure which bed is right for you? Email us and we'll help you find the perfect fit.

How will the Crown Bed arrive?

Your Twin or Queen Crown Bed will arrive in two boxes - one for the headboard and one for the frame. Your King Bed will arrive in three boxes - two for the frame and one for the headboard. All boxes are sized to be easily carried up stairs, unpacked, and assembled in any room.

The Crown Headboard arrives compressed - our patented headboard is made of 100% durable foam. We recommend opening it as soon as possible after delivery; the longer it stays compressed, the longer it will take to fully re-form.

The Crown Bed Frame arrives in a long rectangular box and comes with easy, illustrated step-by-step assembly instructions.

Help! My headboard is taking a while to re-form.

Our headboards are made of 100% foam, that’s how we get them so compact! They are guaranteed to be resilient, that being said, we recommend opening your headboard as soon as you receive it, and lay it flat for at least 24 hours. That time period will allow the foam to completely re-form and help with the process of applying the slipcover! The longer the foam is boxed up, the longer it will take to regain its original shape. Our Crown Headboards do not attach to a bed frame. They are intended to stand up flush against a flat wall and are supported by the mattress and bed frame.

If you have specific concerns, email us and we'll be happy to help.

Will the Crown Headboard fit my current bed frame?

We encourage customers to use the full Coley Home Bed Collection for the perfect fit. But, if you’re totally obsessed with your current frame situation, we crafted the headboard to fit against that as well. We cannot guarantee a perfect fit for every single bed frame or rail set on the market, but if you want to be sure- we suggest ordering a bed frame along with your headboard here. Because our headboard is 100% foam, it does not attach in any way to bed frames.

Wondering if yours will fit? Review our Tear Sheet for the Crown Headboards or email us at hello@coleyhome.com and our team will help you figure it out.

How do I assemble the Crown Bed?

The Crown Bed is designed to be assembled without professional help. Each order includes detailed, illustrated step-by-step instructions. If you run into any trouble, reach out at hello@coleyhome.com and we'll walk you through it.

What mattress works with the Crown Bed?

The Crown Bed frame is compatible with most standard mattresses. We also offer The Coley Mattress, designed to pair perfectly with our bed frame. For specific compatibility questions, please check the product page or contact us directly.

Do I need a box spring with any of your beds?

No you do not! All of our beds are platform bases, so the slat system we use is the perfect amount of support for your mattress. All of our bed frames are designed so that the mattress sits flush to the upholstered bed frame.

Our Materials & Care

What makes your fabric special?

We've curated a selection of 100+ fabrics sourced from premier mills and suppliers. Every fabric is chosen with durability, beauty, and livability in mind - so your furniture looks great and holds up to real life. We’ve even designed some of the prints in house, so they’re exclusive to Coley Home! You can order swatches directly online, and you can also order yardage directly on our website.

What are performance fabrics?

We have found this question very confusing and hard to answer because “Performance” when talking about fabrics has several meanings. We have broken it down below to help people better understand our fabrics.

A Performance Finish:
All of our fabrics with a performance finish have C0. This performance finish is free of PFA’a and much safer than finishes previously offered. C0 repels water based stains, which gives you time to clean up the spill before it absorbs into the fabric. If you are buying a washable fabric with C0, it will start wearing off after 10 washes.

A Washable Fabric:
The Coley Home line offers a variety of fabrics that can be easily washed and cleaned. In our minds, this is the ultimate performance fabric and also a very safe, chemical-free approach. Please note: if you are washing your slipcovers in a machine, please follow the instructions on our Care Guide. The safest route is always to take it to the dry cleaner.

A Heavy Duty Commercial Fabric:
At Coley Home, we are always on the lookout for heavy duty fabrics that will stand up well to dogs and children. We know we have a large customer base in a very busy and messy phase of life. These fabrics meet commercial double rub, pilling, and color fastness standards. These fabrics do not have a performance finish but are very very durable, easily spot-cleanable, and if you are careful, even washable.

Our top performing fabric lines are Nomad, Rattan, Poole, and Beckett! For banquettes and dining, we love our vinyl fabrics - Haynes, Goldie, and Ostrich.

Do you offer leather options?

Yes we do, explore our Leather Collection! We partner with Moore & Giles, a highly acclaimed leather supplier located in the foothills of Virginia. These leathers are offered in fashion-forward colorways and available on select pieces. Our leather is top-grain aniline-dyed leather, which is the best quality and has a natural variation to it that we love. Explore the Leather Collection to see available styles and finishes.

How do I care for my custom furniture?

For upholstered furniture:

  • Vacuum monthly to remove dirt, dust, and pet hair.
  • Flip and rotate cushions twice a month for even wear. Give cushions a good fluff to maintain their shape.
  • Avoid contact with items that may transfer color (e.g., dark denim, dark throw blankets).

For wood:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Wipe down with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners.

For fabric-specific care, refer to our full Care Guide.

How do I clean my fabric?

All of our fabrics have different care requirements. Check our Care Guide for detailed, fabric-specific cleaning instructions.

How do I remove a stain?

Act fast - blot (don't rub) the stain immediately with a clean, dry cloth to absorb as much as possible. For fabric-specific stain removal guidance, visit our Care Guide. When in doubt, reach out to us at hello@coleyhome.com.

Tip: Performance fabrics with a C0 Finish offer built-in stain resistance and are especially forgiving for everyday spills. Please note, this chemical finish is not fool-proof and does not protect the fabric against oil-based stains.
Are all cushions fully upholstered?

Yes - all of our cushions are fully upholstered, meaning both sides are covered in fabric. This allows you to flip them for easy maintenance and even wear over time.

Our cushions feature a zipper, allowing you to easily remove the casing, if necessary.

What is the difference between upholstered, slipcovered, dressmaker, and box pleated?

Great question - here's a quick breakdown of each style:

Fully Upholstered: The fabric is permanently attached directly to the frame. This creates a clean, structured, tailored look with a polished finish. Legs are typically visible, giving the piece a more elevated feel. Best for those who love a classic, put-together aesthetic.

Slipcovered: A removable fabric cover fits over the frame. Slipcovers can be taken off for cleaning or swapped out for a fresh look. The result is relaxed, effortless elegance - practical without sacrificing style. A great choice for families, pet owners, or anyone who wants easy maintenance.

Dressmaker: These pieces feature a gathered, flowing skirt that drapes all the way to the floor, fully concealing the legs. The look is romantic, soft, and decidedly feminine - a nod to traditional upholstery craftsmanship. This style is sometimes referred to as a "kick-pleat" as well.

Box Pleated: Similar to the dressmaker style in that it has a skirt that reaches the floor, but instead of a soft gathered ruffle, the skirt features structured, evenly spaced box pleats. The result is a more tailored, architectural take on the skirted look - polished and precise with a designer feel.

Not sure which is right for your space? Reach out to our team - we love helping customers find their perfect match.

I don't see a fabric I've seen on the site before. Is it still available?

We constantly refresh our fabric collection, especially seasonal prints. If you're looking for something specific that you no longer see, email us at hello@coleyhome.com and we'll let you know if it's available for a custom order.

Any fabrics that we’re about to drop will have “LAST CALL” next to their name in our Customizer.

Lead Times

What is a lead time?

A lead time is the amount of time it takes to make your piece from the moment you place your order to the moment it's ready to ship. Because every Coley Home piece is made to order - meaning we don't keep inventory on shelves and your furniture is built specifically for you after you purchase - there is a production period before it ships.

Lead times vary depending on the piece. Our Quick Ship Collection ships in as little as 10-15 business days, while our standard furniture collection typically takes a few weeks. Think of it as the time our team in Claremont, NC spends cutting, sewing, and crafting your piece from scratch.

Please refer to our Lead Times page., which we keep up-to-date.

How long are your lead times?
  • Quick Ship Collection (Crown Bed & select pieces): Ready to ship within approximately 10-15 days.
  • Standard Collection: Ready to ship within a few weeks from the date your order is placed. Please refer to our Lead Times page for exact timelines.

If you order a fabric that is currently out of stock, your lead time will begin once we receive the fabric. Current estimates are always posted on our Lead Times page.

What is the Quick Ship Collection?

Our Quick Ship Collection includes popular pieces, including the Crown Bed, hat are made-to-order and ready to ship within 10-15 business days. It's the perfect option if you need furniture sooner or prefer a shorter wait time.

Note: If you order a Quick Ship item alongside a Standard Lead Time item, the entire order will ship together once all pieces are ready. If you request to Split Ship your order after it has gone into production, a Split Ship Fee can incur.
How do you keep your lead times so short?

We source as many materials as possible from local vendors to keep our supply chain efficient and reliable. By manufacturing everything in-house and maintaining close relationships with our suppliers, we minimize delays and get your furniture to you as quickly as possible.

Will I be notified if my lead time changes?

Yes, if there are any changes to your expected timeline, our team will reach out to you directly. You can also check our Lead Times page at any time. If you have concerns about your specific order, contact us at hello@coleyhome.com.

Can I track my order?

Yes! Once your order ships, you'll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information. You can also log into your Coley Home account to view order status and tracking details at any time.

Our Customizer uses digitally rendered photos of our fabrics. For best results, please order swatches to see fabrics in person before placing your order.

How do I ensure my piece will fit in my home?

Review the dimension sheets on each product page to confirm the piece will fit in your room as well as through your entryways, doorways, and stairways.

Important: We cannot accept returns or exchanges for sizing or fit issues in your home, so please measure carefully before ordering!
Tips for measuring my space for a sofa or sectional?
  • Room dimensions: Measure the length and width of the room; note doors, windows, and traffic flow.
  • Entryway clearance: Measure the width and height of your front door, any hallways, and the final room entrance.
  • Furniture footprint: Allow comfortable walking space around the piece (typically 18–24 inches).
Do you have seasonal sales or promotions?

We do not offer seasonal sales. We believe in offering the best price all year round so you can shop whenever the time is right.

We typically have a sample sale at our Charlotte Showroom once a year, if we have enough products from photoshoots, High Point Market, etc.

Order Changes & Cancellations

Please contact us as soon as possible - the sooner you reach out, the better the chance we can make a change before production begins. This is why we strongly recommend using our dimension sheets that are located on each page before ordering.
