Meet Natalie! Based in NYC, we can’t get enough of her effortlessly chic style. Read the blog to learn all about Natalie how she’s styled her new apartment, and more!
Hi! My name is Natalie Simkins, I’m 27 years old and just moved to New York City this past month to take my styling business/content creating from a hobby to a full time job. I have a Cavapoo named Hank who has honestly adjusted to city life quicker than I have!
I feel so lucky that I was able to bring my new slipcovered sofa with me to the city. It anchors the room and I feel so at home already. I didn’t have a ton of options as far as the orientation of the sofa/other furniture but it all worked out and I feel like it was literally made for this apartment. I also had a loveseat which I already owned covered in the same fabric as the Hadley Sofa and I was able to bring that too!

My first course of action was to minimize and purge items that I didn’t need. It’s really easy to make a New York apartment feel cluttered, so I had to be careful with what decorations/accents I wanted to bring with me. Amazon has been great for finding different organizers - I got this incredible shoe holder that fits like 40 pairs of shoes!
Thank you so much! I feel like the answer to this changes almost every season, but the websites I browse the most are ShopBop, Staud, Reformation, JCrew, Veronica Beard, & Zara. I’m definitely missing a few!
I’m big on mixing highs and lows, there are certain things I’m willing to invest in more than others (shoes, bags, jeans) because I know I’ll wear/use them over and over. I have a hard time investing in major statement or trendy pieces. If you’ve got on a fabulous pair of shoes and a bag you love, you can never go wrong with jeans and t-shirt.
Most of my interior design inspiration comes from Instagram or magazines! I think Megan Stokes has done a beautiful job decorating her new home and feel like our interior design style is similar. I’m also a huge fan of the account @lilysvintagefinds. I love combining antique/vintage pieces with more modern pieces. It just makes your space more unique and the antiques add a level of warmth/coziness.
I have multiple Slim Aarons coffee table books; I'm obsessed with his work. I also love Aerin Lauder’s “Entertaining Beautifully.”
My favorite book I’ve ever read is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I read it 4 years ago and still think about it. Apparently they’re making it into a movie!
I’m rewatching the original Sex and the City (because duh) and I truly forgot how good it is; I am flying through it!
