Meet Sophie, our Head of Finance and Accounting

Meet Sophie, one of the first employees of Coley Home! She is our Head of Finance & Accounting, with a knack for numbers and the best memory on the team. We love her spunky energy and incredible organizational skills. She recently got married, so if you've been with us for a while, you may have noticed her name change! Read on to learn all about Sophie and everything she does at Coley Home.

Sophie is from Winston-Salem, NC, and attended North Carolina State University (Go Pack!). After graduating, she moved to Charlotte to work for Duncan-Parnell, a family-owned printing and surveying company. There, she gained valuable experience in accounting, specializing in accounts payable. In 2019, she met Coley's sister, Addy, in their apartment complex and first heard about Coley Home! Sophie sent in her resume for an Operations role, but after interviewing, Coley realized an Accounting position would be the best fit for her.

Sophie joined Coley Home in February 2021, when we were still compressing our Crown Headboards in our old Charlotte, NC warehouse. A lot has changed since she started, and she has been a crucial member of our team as we've continued to grow. She’s now Head of the Finance and Accounting Department, overseeing everything from financial statements and forecasting to taxes, pricing, and so much more.

Sophie worked tirelessly as the only accountant on the team until recently, when we hired Louise as her Accounting Associate. You'll meet Louise soon too!

Favorite recipe or cocktail recipe?

I am loving a Hugo Spritz right now

  • 0.5 oz St. Germain
  • 1 sprig of mint (I use 3-4 sprigs because I LOVE MINT and eat it too)
  • 4 oz Prosecco
  • 1 oz Soda Water
  1. Add the St. Germain into a wine glass. Gently muddle and let sit for 3 minutes.
  2. Add ice, the Prosecco, and the soda water. Stir briefly and gently to combine.
  3. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lemon wheel.

Favorite Coley Home Piece?

I might be biased, but I love the Upholstered Sophie Dining Chair! Not just because it’s named after me, but because I truly believe it's our most unique dining chair – I’ve never seen anything like it.

Favorite Coley Home memory so far?

I have so many amazing memories from working at Coley Home. Since I started, we've grown from 4 employees to over 60! Watching our growth over the past 5 years has been both an incredible reward and a wild ride.

What's your favorite thing about working at Coley Home?

I’ve learned so much working here, from finance to furniture! One thing I’ve really enjoyed is how intentional we are. We all wear many hats, which keeps each day interesting and never dull. It’s also incredibly special to connect directly with our customers, since all of our customer service is in-house.

Thank you, Sophie, for everything you do at Coley Home!
